Privacy Policy

What we collect, and why

The estimate form. When you ask for an estimate you give us your name, your email address, what you need built and where it is today. We use it to reply, to scope the work and, if we go ahead, to run the engagement. It reaches us by email.

Booking a call. The calendar on the Contact page is provided by Calendly. When you book, Calendly collects your name, email address, time zone and anything you type in the notes, under Calendly's own privacy policy (calendly.com/privacy), and sends us the booking.

Email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can answer it and remember what was said.

Analytics. We measure how the site is used with two cookieless tools. Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider, counts page views with the page, the referrer, the country and city, the device type, the operating system and the browser, against a hash Vercel computes from the request and discards after 24 hours; it does not store your IP address with the count (vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy). PostHog, in its cookieless mode, counts page views, referrers, device type and which parts of a page were reached against a hash its servers compute each day from your IP address and browser and then discard. Nothing is stored in your browser for either, we do not record sessions, and neither hash is kept from one day to the next, so we cannot recognise you when you come back. If we ever switch to a tool that uses cookies or identifies visitors, this page will say so and the date above will change.

Server logs. Like every website, ours is served by a hosting provider that keeps request logs, including IP addresses, for security and operations. Those logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify visitors.

Cookies

The site itself sets no cookies. The embedded Calendly calendar may set its own, as described in Calendly's policy.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it for anything other than replying to you and doing the work you ask for. We share it only with the providers that operate the site for us (Vercel for hosting, Resend for delivering the estimate form's email, Calendly and PostHog), each bound by its own terms, and when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

An inquiry is kept as long as we need it to reply and follow up. If we work together, the correspondence becomes part of the engagement's records and is kept for as long as those records are, including any period the law requires. You can ask us to delete an inquiry at any time, and we will, unless we have a legal reason to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to ying@paintcreeksoftware.com; we will confirm by replying to the address we have on file before acting, so that no one else can exercise your rights for you. We will never treat you differently for asking.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: our basis for processing an inquiry is the steps you asked us to take before a contract, and for analytics and logs our legitimate interest in running a secure website. The site is hosted in the United States, so your information is transferred there. You may complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and the rights above are the ones the CCPA gives you.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we use established providers for hosting and email. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information we will tell you.

Children

The site is for businesses and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes and questions

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Questions go to ying@paintcreeksoftware.com.
